Selective dissociation of CF3I in a CO2-laser infrared field in the presence of acceptors

Abstract: It is shown that the addition of acceptors of the CF3 radical considerably increases the observed CF3I molecule dissociation yield and has only a slight effect on the selectivity of the process. Practically complete conversion of the initial substance into the products CF3NO and CF3Br was achieved. The possibility is indicated of devising an efficient process for obtaining a 13C-rich product.
