Abstract:
An experimental determination was made of the phase sensitivity of two- and three-layer fiber waveguides to acoustic pressure at the optical wavelength λ = 0.63 μ. It was found that the sensitivity was μ=(k0l )-1∂φ /∂p = (1–2)×10–10 Pa–1. This should make it possible to use such fiber waveguides as sensitive transducers of acoustic pressure.
