Abstract: A theoretical analysis of the performance of laser magnetic resonance spectrometers with saturation of the absorption is made in order to determine the conditions for improving the sensitivity of the spectrometers and to find methods of investigating vibrational relaxation of radicals. It is found that an intracavity laser absorption signal is proportional to the product of the intracavity absorption in the absence of saturation and the single-pass absorption of a saturable sample. It is shown that when a high-power amplitude-modulated signal of small modulation depth is passed through a saturable gas, the modulation depth may be increased.
