Operation of solid-state lasers under the action of an electron beam

Abstract: An investigation was made of the temporal, energy, and spectral characteristics of ruby, YAG:Nd³⁺, and Nd³⁺-activated laser glasses irradiated by an electron beam of 10¹²–10¹⁴ electrons/cm² density. It was experimentally established that radiation defects induced by the electrons considerably changed the characteristics of the investigated lasers.
