Abstract:
An analysis is made of the influence of noise of a radiation source on the sensitivity of a fiber ring interferometer. It is shown that in the case of sources with the Gaussian statistics the contribution of the source noise alters considerably the estimates of the ultimate sensitivity of the interferometer even at input power levels as low as 1 mW. Refined relationships are proposed for the calculation of the optimal length of the fiber waveguide in the interferometer and of the optimal input power.
