Abstract:
Numerical and experimental studies were made of the feasibility of high-contrast regenerative amplification of ultraviolet radiation in an XeCl* laser. Narrow-band (δν≈0.015 cm – 1) tunable radiation pulses were obtained with an energy of ~ 1 J and a duration of ~ 60 ns. For weak transitions (0–0,0–3) in the B–X band, a contrast of ~ 15 was achieved, whilst for the strong transitions (0–1,0–2) the contrast was higher than 104.
