Abstract: A review is given of the papers presented at a plenary meeting of the Scientific Council of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR on Coherent and Nonlinear Optics, held on May 27–29, 1985 in Tbilisi. The current status of research on and development of excimer and waveguide lasers was discussed.
