Formation of ultrashort pulses in a CO2 amplifier with a spatially bounded gain region

Abstract: An investigation is reported of the influence of the transverse dimensions of the active medium on the amplification of an ultrashort pulse under diffraction divergence conditions in a CO2 amplifier with a long interaction region.
