Abstract:
Lasing was observed for the first time as a result of the 3p [1/2]1–3s[3/2]02 and 3p[1/2]1–3s[3/2]01 transitions in the Ne atom generating light of wavelengths 703 and 725 nm. A working mixture of the He–Ne–Ar–Kr composition at pressures up to 3.5 atm was pumped by a fast-electron beam. The output energy reached 0.25 J when the volume of the active medium was 10 liters and the laser efficiency was ~0.1 %.
