Abstract:
The dispersion of the complex permittivity of aluminum and silver is used in a calculation of the behavior of the effective refractive index and of the attenuation coefficient of the first TE and TM modes of wavelengths 0.4–1.0 μ traveling in a dielectric glass–polymer planar waveguide with a metal coating. It is shown that the observed features of the dispersion properties can be used in the construction of filters.
