Abstract:
A determination was made of the spectral dependence of the chromatic dispersion in a singlefiber waveguide by an interference method. The same dependence was calculated for the parameters of an equivalent fiber waveguide with a step index profile deduced from the spectral dependence of the size of the spot formed by a mode in the investigated waveguide. A comparison of the experimental and calculated data demonstrated the validity of such calculations in the case of waveguides with a nominal step index profile.
