Abstract:
An investigation was made of the influence of the finesse and of the width of the transmission profile of an intracavity Fabry — Perot etalon on the profile and the feasibility of control of the emission spectrum of a long-pulse XeCl laser. An etalon with an instrumental function half-width (FWHM) ~7 cm–1 was sufficient for lasing with a controlled spectral profile of half-width (FWHM) not exceeding 1 cm–1. Panoramic spectra were obtained for wide-range tuning of the laser containing etalons with the finesse F = 4.5, 11, and 30. In all cases, the total tuning range of the laser exceeded 140 cm–1.
