Determination of the gain due to a transition in the Be IV ion in a recombining laser plasma

The gain was determined experimentally for the 4f–5g transition in hydrogen like Be IV ions in a recombining laser plasma. The gain was found to be 3–6 m ^– 1, in good agreement with the results of indirect measurements and model calculations.
