Mode locking in a neodymium laser with a gadolinium scandium gallium garnet switch

Abstract: A study was made of mode locking in a neodymium laser with a passive gadolinium scandium gallium garnet (GSGG) passive switch. When the transmission coefficient of GSGG was T= 20% and the length of the crystal was 1 cm, ultrashort pulses of minimum duration 80 psec and of energy of 0.5 mJ per pulse were generated.
