Abstract: An investigation was made of the energy spectra of multiply charged ions in plasmas formed by laser heating of YO and HoO targets of different densities. It was found that there were optimal target densities for which a reduction in the rate of recombination processes in a laser plasma ensured the maximum beam intensity, charge multiplicity, and energy of the ions.
