Abstract:
An analysis is made of the kinetics of the processes occurring in gaseous media that contain molecules of singlet oxygen and iodine. A review is given also of the rates of homogeneous electronic–electronic (EE) energy exchange processes, electronic–translational (ET) quenching, chemical reactions of dissociation of molecular iodine, and heterogeneous quenching on the walls. The reliability of the kinetic schemes of the various processes is confirmed by the agreement between the calculated results and the experimental data. The available results are used to propose the recommended (most probable) values of the rate constants of the relevant reactions.
