Use of scanning radiation for smoothing-out speckle structure in images of diffusely reflecting objects

Abstract: Theoretical and experimental investigations were made of the possibility of smoothing-out the speckle structure of images of diffusely reflecting objects by the use of scanning radiation. The smoothing-out occurred when radiation of one wavelength was used and there was no deterioration of the resolution. The images obtained were practically identical with those obtained using white light.
