Abstract:
An experimental investigation was made of the precision of correction for spherical aberration by phase conjugation using stimulated Brillouin scattering of focused beams. It is shown that the precision of correction, governed by the precision of phase conjugation, depends strongly on the amplitude and type of aberration determined by the ray path in the bulk of an STBS-active medium. Studies are made of methods for improving the precision of phase conjugation by altering the type of aberration and making a beam noisy using small-scale phase distortions, followed by spatial filtering. The efficiency of these methods is determined.
