Optimisation of two-frequency optical data writing in photochromic materials based on the polarisation dependence of the two-photon absorption cross section
Abstract:
The dependence of the two-photon absorption cross section of a photochromic material on the relative orientation of the polarisation vectors of optical waves participating in two-photon writing was investigated in connection with the task of developing a three-dimensional optical memory device. It was demonstrated that a suitable selection of the polarisation vectors of laser radiation could increase significantly the efficiency of two-photon writing. An analysis was made of the feasibility of using nonlinear optical methods, including the polarisation technique, in optimisation of a two-photon optical data writing device.
