Abstract:
A comparison is made of inverse Raman scattering (IRS) and coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) from the point of view of their applicability in Raman-spectroscopic investigations of liquid media. Important aspects in this context are the detection limit of weak Raman lines, the comparability of their profiles with those of spontaneous Raman scattering (SPRS) lines, and the feasibility of utilizing the resonant Raman effect. Both methods were implemented using experimental setups with two pulsed lasers (narrow- and broad-band).
