Second harmonic generation in a medium with a variable permittivity

An analysis is made of second harmonic generation in a medium with a quadratic radial variation in the permittivity. It is found that the efficiency of conversion of the fundamental-frequency wave to the second-harmonic signal is highest on the resonator axis and decreases rapidly with the radius.
