Abstract:
The distribution of the density of the probability of fluctuation of a signal, allowing for log-normal fluctuations and for fluctuations due to wandering of a beam (the two types of fluctuation are characterized by parameters σ and α, respectively), is used in numerical integration of the dependences of the average error on the signal/noise ratio for different values of σ and α in the case of reception with fixed and adaptive decision threshold in the case of polarization-modulation reception.
