Modulation and conversion of light in lithium niobate crystals with a regular domain structure

Abstract: A study was made of the diffraction of light in a volume phase grating formed in lithium niobate crystals with a regular domain structure on application of an external electric field. Second harmonics were generated in these crystals when light propagated along domain walls.
