Single-mode laser amplifier operating in the 1.3 μm range and using a buried stripe heterostructure

Abstract: Single-mode laser amplifiers were developed for the 1.3 μm range. The radiation was coupled in and out of these amplifiers by single-mode fiber waveguides. Statistical characteristics of the amplification and the optoelectronic signal were investigated. An unsaturated gain of 10 dB was obtained for a small signal in a traveling-wave amplifier. The saturation power of the input signal was 16 μW.
