Investigation of the damage to dielectric films by laser radiation

A study was made of the influence of the radiation wavelength, focusing conditions, and temperature of a sample on the laser damage to SiO₂, TiO₂, SiO_x, TiO_x, (x<2) films and to the surface of rutile crystals. Possible damage mechanisms were considered.
