Transient optical storage in lithium niobate crystal

Abstract: The time, temperature, and impurity-concentration dependences of the formation and relaxation of phase holograms in iron-doped lithium niobate were determined. A volume phase holographic grating with a period of 0.69μ and a thickness of 14 mm was characterized by an angular selectivity of 22" and a spectral selectivity of 1.36 Å.
