Resonant frequency conversion in sodium vapor

Infrared radiation was converted in Na vapor by two-photon resonant pumping of the 3s–4s forbidden transition in the presence of a quasiresonant signal. The calculated dependence of the conversion efficiency on the signal wavelength was in qualitative agreement with the experimental results.
