Dynamics of transmission of ultrashort light pulses by thin-film cavity structures

Abstract: An analysis is made of the interaction of ultrashort light pulses with thin-film cavity structures filled with two-level resonant atoms. A study is reported of the dynamics of transmission of such pulses when transitions take place between bistable states. The superradiance delay time is found to depend on the amplitude of a soliton-like input pulse and on the photon lifetime in the cavity.
