Transient phenomena during supersonic propagation of an optical breakdown in gases

Abstract: A numerical model is used to calculate transient gasdynamic flows allowing for nonequilibrium ionization and radiative transfer. This model is used in an analysis of the interaction of laser radiation with an optical breakdown plasma. It is also used to account for a number of experimentally observed effects.
