Comparison of the divergence of the radiation emitted by a multistage system and by a laser with a telescopic resonator

A freely oscillating neodymium-glass laser is used as an example in an experimental demonstration that the angular divergence of the radiation emerging from a telescopic resonator is governed by the optical inhomogeneity of the active medium and not just by the resonator effects.
