Sealed copper vapor laser operating at atmospheric pressure of the buffer gas

Abstract: A sealed copper vapor laser with a discharge-channel diameter of 2 cm was operated at atmospheric pressure of the buffer gas. An increase of this pressure from 20 to 750 Torr approximately halved the efficiency but increased the service life of the laser to a few thousands of hours.
