Abstract:
An algorithm is presented for the calculation of the electric field distribution of quasilinearly polarized TE modes in an anisotropic graded-index waveguide with an arbitrary refractive index profile. This algorithm is used to obtain the frequency dependence of the acoustooptic interaction efficiency both with and without changes in the TE mode number, using only the experimentally measured effective refractive indices. The calculations are compared with the experimental results for a waveguide on the surface of Y-cut lithium niobate.
