Injection laser with a reflector in the form of two combined diffraction gratings

Abstract: A study was made of an injection laser for a monolithic integrated-optics module based on a system of strongly coupled waveguides, in which a resonator mirror is formed by two combined diffraction gratings in the form of slots with vertical walls. The resujts indicated that such a reflector can ensure selection of longitudinal modes and reduce the width of the angular distribution of laser radiation. It can also be used to provide optical coupling to other components of a monolithic integrated module.
