Abstract:
An investigation is reported of the influence of the track structure of a plasma on the kinetic processes in the active medium of an He — Cd laser. The spatiotemporal evolution of a fission-fragment track in a nuclear-excited He — Cd plasma is modelled for various parameters of the medium and for various pump powers. It is shown that at a near-threshold pump power there is a possibility of strong fluctuations of the medium parameters in the plasmas of the active media of fission-fragment-pumped lasers.
