Theory of transient stimulated light scattering

Abstract: Transient stimulated enthalpy scattering in inverted CO2 and stimulated Brillouin scattering in a plasma are investigated under convective instability conditions. The characteristic times for the establishment of steady-state scattering and growth increments of a Stokes wave for the transient processes are found and the relationship between these quantities and time- and coordinate-dependent parameters of the medium is established.
