Abstract: Theoretical and experimental investigations were made of various regimes of pulse generation in actively mode-locked solid-state lasers. These regimes were observed by altering the detuning of the modulation frequency of the intracavity losses from the intermode frequency of the cavity. The conditions for the appearance and the special features of operational instabilities, leading to changes in short pulse generation, were determined.
