Abstract:
An experimental comparison was made between the energy characteristics of the medium of a pulsed $D_2-F_2-CO_2-O_2-He$ chemical laser under oscillation and amplification conditions. It was found that, under saturation conditions, the specific energy outputs of the amplifier and oscillator with pulse durations $\gtrsim10^{-6}$ sec were almost the same. The time profile of the unsaturated gain was determined and the amplification of short ($\thicksim150-2$ nsec) pulses was investigated. The angular distribution of the radiation and the influence of the walls of the reaction vessel on this distribution were studied.
