Bistability of coupled resonators

Abstract: An analysis is made of the conditions under which a bistability appears in a system of coupled resonators. It is shown that a system of equations for slowly varying stimulated emission amplitudes exhibits a fold catastrophe. The stability of steady-state solutions is considered.
