Abstract:
A simple method was developed for generating phase-locked picosecond (< 10 psec) pulses at several frequencies at the same time in the same resonator of a cw dye laser pumped by phase-locked radiation. A periodic time substructure of a multifrequency pulse was studied (the minimum duration of the autocorrelation function spikes was 0.12 psec). The experimental results were compared with those of a direct digital Fourier transformation of the stimulated emission spectra and with analytic estimates. The characteristics and feasibility of applications of the multifrequency regime were analyzed.
