Abstract:
The results of studies on the anodic oxidation and cathodic reduction of diarenechromium complexes are surveyed. The mechanisms of the multistage reactions involving the electrochemical reduction of the complexes are examined. Two aspects of their reactivity are analysed – the nature of the transmission of the electronic effect of substituents in the ligands to the reaction centre and the change in the properties of aromatic compounds as a result of the formation of a complex with a chromium atom.
