Abstract: The transfer of the ideas and methods of nuclear physics and nuclear chemistry to the study of structural biology has led to the creation of a new method of studying the accessible surface and the three-dimensional structure of biological materials. We shall review the papers which have formed a basis for the tritium planigraphy method and the main directions in which the method has developed in its applications to molecular biology problems. The bibliography includes 129 references.
