Abstract:
Data on the emission phenomena and chemical processes occurring in molecular organic crystals capable of rapid exothermic decomposition when subjected to mechanical influences are surveyed. The influence of the nature, composition, and pressure of the gaseous medium on the probability of initiation of the mechanical decomposition of single crystals is examined. The existing concepts concerning the initiation of fast reactions in organic crystal are analysed. A general scheme is proposed for the electrophysical phenomena and chemical reactions occurring when solids are subjected to mechanical influences. The bibliography includes 132 references.
