Abstract:
This article gives the present state of the chemistry of the organic compounds of boron which include sulphur in their composition. Methods of preparation and the chemical properties of the ortho- and meta-thioborates, esters of halogenothioboric acids, esters of organothioboric acids, alkylthio-1,3,2-dioxaborolanes, 1,2-thiaborolanes, B-alkylthio-derivatives of borazole, alkylthioboranes, and dialkylamino(alkylthio)boranes are examined. The sulphur-containing boron compounds exhibit high reactivity and many types of compounds with B–S bonds which are now readily available are used successfully for the synthesis of the most diverse classes of organoboron compounds, including various boron–nitrogen heterocyclic systems and boron-containing polymers. The esters of thioboric and organothioboric acids also find application for the synthesis of organosulphur compounds. There is a bibliography of 124 references.
