Abstract:
Derivatives of 1,4-benzodiazepines have found wide application as minor tranquilisers. Moreover, compounds of this class are of interest for the investigation of problems in stereochemistry, tautomerism, and mutual effects of atoms in heterocyclic systems and also for the determination of the relation between pharmacological activity and structure. This review deals with the methods of preparation and the chemical properties of 1,4-benzodiazepines and also their dihydro- and tetrahydroderivatives and the stereochemistry and applications of these substances. The bibliography includes 195 references.
