Abstract:
The literature data dealing with an effective method for the analysis of a mixture of carbohydrates using ion-exchange resins are reviewed. The separation of carbohydrates by this method is based on three main principles: (1) ion exchange; (2) adsorption and gel filtration; (3) partition chromatography. The use of ion-exchange resins yields clear cut qualitative and quantitative results and the analytical process may be automated. The method is distinguished by higher reliability and sensitivity and satisfactory reproducibility. The bibliography includes 81 references.
