Abstract:
A general account is given of the literature data on the molecular oxygen anions O22–, O2–, and O3– characterising the structures of simple peroxy-compounds: peroxides, superoxides, and ozonides. The principal studies published in recent years dealing with the structure of complex peroxy-compounds are briefly summarised. The nomenclature for organic peroxy-compounds proposed by other authors is critically discussed and a scheme is put forward for classification and nomenclature based on the latest data on the structures of such compounds. The bibliography includes 93 references.
