Abstract:
Published information is presented on the structure and the properties of phosphoryl compounds and certain others containing oxo-groups. Modern views on the structure of the phosphoryl group are related to the presence of a σ-bond and also to dπ–pπ interaction between the orbitals of the phosphorus and oxygen atoms; this type of interaction is observed also at other bonds involving phosphorus (P–Hal). Compounds containing oxo-groups exhibit donor properties, forming complexes with acceptor molecules. The general properties of donor–acceptor complex compounds are discussed. A list of 196 references is included.
