Abstract:
In aqueous solutions hexavalent uranium is reduced at a mercury electrode to the quadrivalent or tervalent state and in some cases even to the metal itself. The number of stages observed in the cathodic process and also the final valence form of uranium depend on the composition of the solution, in particular on the presence of complex-forming agents and the pH of the medium. As an analytical method, the polarography of uranium is at present finding only limited applications. The bibliography includes 131 references.
