Abstract:
Different types of heteropolycompounds, which are formed in solutions and can be isolated from the latter in a crystalline state, have been analysed and classified on the basis of the results of latest X-ray diffraction studies. The physicochemical and research techniques which have led to the current views on the structures of heteropolycompounds (a large class of complexes) are briefly considered. The possibilities which arise on substitution of one or several metal atoms in the coordination sphere of the heteropolycompound are examined on the basis of structural considerations. The principal trends and problems in the chemistry of heteropolycompounds are discussed. The bibliography includes 191 references.
