Reactions of Oxo-derivatives of Furan with Hydrogen Peroxide and Peroxy-acids

The reactions of furan oxo-compounds with hydrogen peroxide and with peroxy-acids are surveyed, different views on the reaction mechanism are discussed, and modern concepts are explained. Possible practical applications of the process are shown. Comparison with the oxidation of aromatic compounds under similar conditions indicates several specific features of the process in the furan series.
